TERVETULOA AAVE WARM UP -TILAISUUTEEN TÄNÄÄN klo 19!

Tervetuloa tänään AAVE-festivaalin lämmittelytapahtumaan Borg Soundlab -äänistudioon (Linnankatu 7, Katajanokka). Illan aikana kuullaan kokeellinen improkeikka muusikoilta Libero Mureddu (kosketinsoittimet), Eero Savela (trumpetti) ja Moritz Cartheuser (kitara). Borg Soundlabissa on myös esillä italialaisen videotaiteilija Antonello Matarazzon teoksia. Vapaa pääsy.

WELCOME TO AAVE WARM UP TODAY at 7pm!

Welcome to the AAVE Alternative AudioVisual Event warm-up to sound studio Borg Soundlab (Linnankatu 7, Katajanokka). Our warm-up event is open to all festival audience and artists. During the evening we will hear an experimental improvised music performance by Libero Mureddu (keyboards), Eero Savela (trumpet) and Moritz Cartheuser (guitar). Borg Soundlab will also host the video art works of Antonello Matarazzo (IT). Free entry.

ARTISTS BIO (in English):

LIBERO MOREDDU

Libero Mureddu, Italian-French composer and pianist based in Helsinki since 2003. He studied Piano and Composition at the Conservatory "G. Verdi" of Milano and Music Technology at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Active pianist in the field of improvised music, with long-standing collaborations with Giovanni Falzone and the Chant Trio. As composer his main interests are in the field of computer-assisted algorithmic composition and in the exploration of the connections between composition and improvisation.

EERO SAVELA

Eero Savela is a trumpet player who has worked in various bands; for example Soul Captain Band, the Soul Investigators, Bad Ass Brass Band, Peloton and Paukkumaissi. He has also worked in many new circus, dance and theatre productions. As a main interest he says improvisation and composing.

MORITZ CARTHEUSER

Moritz Cartheuser is a finnish/german musician working in Helsinki and Berlin. He plays guitar in various groups in the genre of improvised music and jazz. His musical studies were directed by i.a. Kurt Rosenwinkel, John Hollenbeck and David Friedman at Jazz-Institut-Berlin. Musical projects reach from collaborations with "Art Zentral" and "HUM" to experimental soundscapes for exhibitions in the frame of "world design capital 2012".

ANTONELLO MATARAZZO

Antonello Matarazzo is a painter, director and video artist. The core of his research is based on the ambiguity between still image and motion. The link between his painting, video and video installations is his tendency to the exploration of introspective and anthropological aspects. Matarazzo is an exponent of Medialismo, an Italian movement that postulate different media interaction. His work was shown also in 2009 and 2011 editions of the Venice Biennale.

AAVE Alternative AudioVisual Event on liikkuvan kuvan taidetta eri muodoissaan juhliva festivaali, joka palaa kummittelemaan Helsingin kaduille 11.-14.4.2013. Pääareenamme on Malmitalon kulttuurikeskus. Festivaalin infopisteenä toimii Lasipalatsin Tovi -näyttelytila ja klubiesiintyjämme Yokotain gallerianäyttely on esillä Galleria Sorbuksessa koko festivaaliviikon ajan. Kaikki AAVEen esitykset ovat ilmaisia.

AVAJAISET

Festivaalin avajaiset ovat Malmitalolla torstaina 11.4 klo 17.30, tervetuloa! Tilaisuudessa esitetään Sami van Ingenin 35mm stereoskooppinen elokuva Hate (2012), brittiläisen Frieze Foundationin videokooste Frieze Film Touring (mukana myös mm. elokuvaohjaaja, Documenta13 -taiteilija Apitchapong Weerasethakulin ja Turner-palkinnon 2012 voittaneen Elizabeth Pricen teokset) sekä videotaiteilijana tunnetun Hannu Karjalaisen (feat. Timo Tuhkanen) live cinema -esitys Dérive. Tervetuloa!

SEMINAARI

Perjantaina 12:00 - 17:00 Kuvataideakatemiassa pidettävässä seminaarissa järjestämme perjantaina kaksi sessiota, joista ensimmäisessä taiteilijat Bruce McClure, Sami van Ingen ja Marek Pluciennik puhuvat taiteestaan ja käyttämästään tekniikasta. Toisessa sessiossa Padovassa sijaitsevan Museo del Precineman johtaja Laura Minici Zotti pitää luentoperformanssin, jossa rekonstruoidaan taikalyhtyesitys Charles Dickensin matkasta Italiassa. Tilaisuus järjestetään yhdessä tila-aikataiteiden ja yleisen opetuksen suuntautumisvaihtoehtojen kanssa. Lämmin kiitos! (Tapahtumapaikka: Auditorio, Kuvataideakatemia, Kaikukatu 4).

Seminaarin jälkeen ohjelma jatkuu perjantaina Malmitalolla Makamatsu Kojin elokuvan "11.25 The day Mishima chose his own fate" (2012) ja McCluren filmiperformanssin "This Archipelago's First Visiting" myötä. Tervetuloa!

AAVE (in English: ghost) will be back haunting the streets of Helsinki 11.-14.4.2013. Our main venue is the cultural center Malmitalo. The festival info-point is situated in Lasipalatsi's exhibition space Tovi and the exhibition by Yokotai-group is open through the week in Gallery Sorbus 1pm - 6pm every day. All events are free!

The opening is in Malmitalo 11.4 starting 5.30 pm with Sami van Ingen´s 35mm stereoscopic film Hate (2012), a screening of Frieze Film Touring of new artists works commissioned by Frieze Foundation (including film director and Documenta13 artist Apitchapong Weerasethakul and Turner price winner 2012 Elizabeth Price), ending with Hannu Karjalainen´s (feat. Timo Tuhkanen) live cinema -gig Dérive. Welcome!

On Friday a seminar in two parts will be held at the Academy of Fine Arts. In the first session artists Bruce McClure, Sami van Ingen and Marek Pluciennik will discuss their work and methods in a panel discussion. Laura Minici Zotti, the director of Museo del precinema in Padua will then have a lecture performance where she reconstructs a Laterna Magica show about Charles Dickens’ travel to Italy (Venue: Auditorium, Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Kaikukatu 4). The seminar is organised together with Time & Space and General Studies - Warm thanks! After the seminar the programme continues in Malmitalo with a movie by Wakamatsu Koji "11.25 The day Mishima chose his own fate" (2012) and McClure´s film performance "This Archipelago's First Visiting".
